Definition of PET Self-adhesive Materials
PET self-adhesive materials are adhesive materials based on polyethylene terephthalate (Polyethylene Terephthalate, abbreviated as PET). They are usually made by coating pressure-sensitive adhesive (such as acrylic adhesive, rubber-based adhesive, etc.) on the surface of PET film and then bonding it with release paper (silicone oil paper). Their structure generally includes PET substrate, adhesive layer and release layer, and they belong to high-molecular material type label consumables.
Characteristics of PET Self-adhesive Materials
1. Outstanding Physical Properties
High strength and tensile resistance: The PET material itself is strong and has good toughness, and it is not prone to tearing or deformation, making it suitable for scenarios requiring resistance to external forces (such as packaging labels, industrial signs).
High temperature resistance and low temperature resistance: They can maintain stability within the temperature range of -40°C to 120°C. Some specially treated PET self-adhesive materials can withstand temperatures above 150°C, suitable for use in high-temperature environments such as electrical appliances and automotive components.
Chemical resistance: They have good resistance to acids, alkalis, and oils, and are not easily dissolved or deteriorated when in contact with solvents, often used for cosmetics and pharmaceutical labels.
2. Optical and Appearance Characteristics
High transparency: Transparent PET self-adhesive materials have high light transmittance, allowing for clear printing effects and can be used for semi-transparent or matte texture label designs.
Smooth surface: The substrate surface is smooth, suitable for high-precision printing (such as color graphics, barcodes, QR codes), with good ink adhesion and patterns that are not prone to fading.
3. Stable Adhesive Performance
Long-lasting adhesion: Acrylic-based adhesives have good adhesion on various surfaces (such as metal, plastic, glass), and they do not easily peel off over time, suitable for outdoor or durable labels.
High weather resistance: Resistant to ultraviolet rays, moisture, and oxidation, not prone to aging in humid and direct sunlight environments, suitable for outdoor product labels and food packaging labels.
4. Environmental Friendliness and Processing Adaptability
Recyclability: PET is a recyclable plastic (recycling symbol #1), meeting environmental protection requirements, but note that the adhesive layer may affect the purity of recycling.
Easy processing: Can be personalized through processes such as die-cutting, hot stamping, and laminating to meet different shapes (such as round, irregular shapes) and decoration requirements.
