How Can One Choose Good PVC Self-adhesive Materials

It is well known that PVC self-adhesive materials (polyvinyl chloride) come in two types: soft and hard. They have good durability, tear resistance, softness and chemical corrosion resistance, and are widely used in electronics, machinery, batteries and outdoor pasting. However, its heat resistance and tensile strength are average, and it will shrink to a certain extent under the influence of temperature. It is easy to tear when stretched. Due to environmental protection restrictions, it is currently used less and less indoors.

Inspection methods for pvc self-adhesive materials : Check whether the slitting end face of the roll self-adhesive material is straight and whether the tightness of rewinding is consistent: If the slitting end face of the roll self-adhesive material is not even, it will not only affect the registration during printing, but also cause difficulties in waste removal due to changes in the die-cutting position. Inconsistent tightness during rewinding will cause changes in the paper tension during printing. Uneven tension can also cause printing quality problems. Check whether the edges of the self-adhesive material are adhered and whether the backing paper is not coated with silicon.

If the edges of the self-adhesive material stick together or there are some areas on the backing paper that are not coated with silicone oil, it will cause the face paper to break during waste discharge during the printing process, and normal production cannot be carried out. So, before printing, take a piece of self-adhesive material about 1 meter long and peel it off by hand to check if there are any parts that cannot be peeled off smoothly and consistently at the edge or in other areas. Usually, the adhesion of the edges of the face paper and the base paper occurs on one slitting roll of the entire coated self-adhesive material, and it generally only happens 7 to 10 meters from the outer layer. Therefore, when the edges of the self-adhesive material on the slitting roll are adhered, do not immediately assert that the entire roll has this problem.

Check if the self-adhesive material has burrs: The edge of the roll of self-adhesive material should be smooth and undamaged, which is the foundation for ensuring the printing quality of self-adhesive labels. Therefore, before printing and processing, it is necessary to carefully check whether there are burrs on the slitting edge of the roll of self-adhesive material and whether it has been damaged due to improper storage and transportation. Also, roll the roll of self-adhesive material 4 to 5 turns and carefully inspect its slitting edge.

Check if there are any cracks on the self-adhesive material: When slitting the self-adhesive material, if the slitting tool is not adjusted properly or the blade is not sharp enough, cracks will appear on the face paper or backing paper of the self-adhesive material. The fibers pulled out from the cracks will be stuck by the adhesive again. The occurrence of cracks may be continuous or random. They may appear on one side of the roll self-adhesive material or on both sides.
